MALACCA: Jasin district council secretary Abdul Manaf Jaffar, who was declared a bankrupt last year, has resigned with immediate effect as of yesterday.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said Abdul Manaf quit following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s advice.
He said this after chairing the state exco meeting yesterday.
Abdul Manaf was declared bankrupt by a High Court on Sept 11, last year for failing to settle a debt of RM2.5mil, where he stood as guarantor.
Abdul Manaf was allowed to continue working on the condition that he did not handle any money matters.
