HIGHER international rubber prices and increasing Chinese market demand in recent months have raised the monthly average income of the country’s rubber smallholders to about RM1,000 from the RM400 in 2001.
Rubber smallholders said in an interview with China Press the increase in rubber prices from US$0.50 (RM1.90) in 2001 to the present US$1.40 (RM5.32) had raised their monthly income by about one-and-a-half times.
