JOHOR BARU: All Noraini Said wishes for is to be able to afford new clothes for her children and to prepare sumptuous meals for them during Hari Raya.

Although the single mother has always celebrated the festivities modestly, new clothes for her children was something which she could not afford as the money had to be spent on school uniforms and books.

“Since Hari Raya and new school semester are too close, I have to choose between buying them new clothes or school uniforms.

“This saddens me because I was determined to ensure my children lead their lives like other children after I became a single mother after my husband died,” she said.

Noraini, 50, a general worker and has three school-going children aged between 17 and six, were among 20 families in Johor Baru parliamentary constituency who received goodies for the coming Hari Raya.

They were presented with cash between RM200 and RM500 each, food supplyand clothes, courtesy of Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON) Senai branch and generous individuals.

The goodies were presented by Deputy Works Minister Datuk Khaled Nordin, who is also Johor Baru MP.
