KUALA LUMPUR: Medical students from non-recognised universities will have to sit for a qualifying examination after the Dec 31 deadline for credit transfer to a recognised university, said Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Mohamad Taha Arif.
Those from universities that are not recognised will have to sit for the qualifying exam and pass it before we register them as practising doctors. We need to maintain standards and not expose the populace to unqualified doctors, he said on Wednesday.
