JOHOR BARU: It is not standard operating procedure for police to seize the passport of foreign traffic offenders to make them pay their summonses before leaving the country, said Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Musa Hassan.
DCP Musa said it was an offence for a police officer to seize a persons passport as they had no power to do so, adding that they should only ask for the passports to take down the persons particulars and update records.
