KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a 47-year-old restaurant owner for alleged involvement in illegal bookmaking on several major football matches, with bets running into some RM1.5mil a day.
When his home at a condominium in Desa Petaling here was raided, the suspect – who only opened the door after the police had knocked for 10 minutes – had tried to hide the betting slips under some pillows.
