KLANG: A couple, who had withdrawn RM20,000 from a bank at Jalan Stesen here, lost it to two thieves who had trailed them for about 4km.

The incident occurred at about 12.50pm yesterday as the 49-year-old transport company owner and his 30-year-old wife, were heading for Taman Chi Liung in Pandamaran in a Mitsubishi Pajero, with the money in a bag.

The man then parked the Pajero to meet a contractor while the wife remained in the unlocked vehicle with the money.

Minutes later, a man in his 20s, wearing a crash helmet, opened the front door of the vehicle, grabbed the bag and ran some 70m to where an accomplice was waiting on a motorcycle.

The woman screamed for help but it was too late as the two suspects managed to speed away.

The couple later lodged a police report at Klang district police station.

Klang deputy OCPD Supt Zulkifli Bashir confirmed the incident and said police were investigating the case under Section 379 of the Penal Code for snatch theft.
