Ramadan treat for 140 special children

SPECIAL EVENT: Children from the three orphanages posing with the other guests at the dinner hosted by Riviera Bay Resort on Sunday.

MALACCA: About 140 orphans and mentally-retarded children were treated to a buka puasa dinner by the Riviera Bay Resort on Sunday. 

They orphans were from Rumah Anak Yatim Raysass and Sekolah Tunas Bakti while the mentally-retarded children were from Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Kampung Pinang in Spring Garden, Lereh. 

“As a caring society, we should not forget the less fortunate like the orphans and mentally-retarded children and the poor,” said Tangga Batu assemblyman Datuk Yaakub Md Amin, who attended the dinner. 

Ibnu Mansur, 12, said it was the second time he was invited to a Ramadan dinner at a hotel. 

His friends, Iskandar Ramin, Aris Ithnin and Daniel Saad, both 11, said they were happy to have the chance to dine at the hotel and that the food was delicious. 

Zaibo and Opie Zami, who play Pak Selamat and Mat Rock respectively in the popular sitcom Spana Jaya, entertained the guests. 

The children also took photographs with a python brought specially from the Malacca Zoo.
