KUANTAN: Three women were killed while seven others, including a 10-month-old baby, were injured in a collision involving a car and a van at the 215th kilometre of the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Terengganu road here yesterday.
Pahang traffic police chief Supt Baharuddin Sarbaini said Noor Ashiken Abdul Razak, 35, a teacher at SM Sungai Lembing, and Hasnah Harun, 18, a student at Institut Kemajuan Iktisas Pahang, who were travelling in the car, died at the scene.
One of the vans passengers, Hasnah Mahmod, 51, from Kampung Permatang Badak, also died at the scene from severe head injuries, he told reporters here.
Baharuddin said in the 6.10am incident, the van, heading from Maran to Permatang Badak, skidded out of control and into the path of the oncoming car.
Also injured were car driver Ismail Harun, 29, a trader from Felda Bukit Sagu; his 10-month-old son Imran Iskandar; van driver Abu Bakar Ahmad, 58; his two sons Shahizan, 27, and Mohd Helmi, 25; Norazliza Tumiran, 24; and Ikip student Halimatun Mohd Shukri, 18. Bernama
