KUALA LUMPUR: A three-day “Reliance Thank You Fair” – an extension of the agency’s special tour packages and low fares held at the recent Matta International Travel Fair – is being held to thank customers for their support.

Reliance Shipping & Travel Agencies Sdn Bhd executive director Tan Sin Chong said the big response at the recent Matta fair saw long queues at its counters, resulting in many customers missing out on special tour packages and low fares.

“So we would like to extend the same special tour packages and low fares to our customers who have over the years supported us,” he said in an interview.

COME ONE, COME ALL: Tan's travel agency is offering all the benefits of the Matta fair at its premises in Kuala Lumpur until today.

The fair, held on the third floor of Sungei Wang Plaza in Bukit Bintang here, started on Friday and ends today.

“Those who are planning their holiday early, from next month until March, can book early to take advantage of our best prices now,” he said.

Among the special tour packages at the fair are discounts for trips to China and South Korea, he said.

An example is the eight-day tour to Beijing which now costs RM1,599, compared to the normal price of RM1,899, he said.

He said the Korean tour package included a trip to a skiing resort where tourists would get free skiing lessons and equipment to use.

“We have also introduced new products at the Matta fair like the Muslim packages, which we have also included in the extension fair.”

Halal food would be served to those buying a Muslim package. The tour is designed to take tourists to places steeped in Islamic history and civilisation, he added.

On the popularity of the Free Independent Travel packages, Tan said they appealed to people who preferred travel flexibility as they can choose their departure dates, accommodation type and other details in their itineraries.

Asean countries were the favourite destinations for independent travellers, followed by Australia, New Zealand and London, he added.
