TELUK INTAN: Raja Kecil Besar Perak Raja Izzuddin Iskandar Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah has been charged with abetting his personal secretary in cheating two women of RM150,000 with the promise of state titles.

The third in line to the Perak throne is accused of abetting Ibrahim Zulkifli to deceive Fong Seow Kai Chuan, 33, and her mother Fong Nyok Lan, 64, into believing that he could get a “Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak” (DPMP) title for the latter.

He is alleged to have cheated the women into making a contribution of the sum towards the palace fund between March 11 and April 2 at Lot 7127, Jalan Pasar Sambungan here.

Raja Izzuddin also faces an alternative charge of cheating the women of RM80,000 between March 27 and April 2 at Istana Seri Tambun, Tambun Heights, Ipoh.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges at the Sessions Court here yesterday.

Sessions Judge Allaudeen Ismail set bail at RM30,000 in two sureties and ordered that his passport be impounded.

TO COURT: Police officers leading Raja Izzuddin into the Sessions Court where he was charged wtih abetting his personal secretary in cheating two women.

Earlier, Raja Izzuddin’s 42-year-old secretary Ibrahim was charged with two separate offences of cheating.

In the first charge, he is alleged to have cheated Kai Chuan into paying RM30,000 for an “Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) title.

He is accused of promising her that she would receive the title in June this year and is alleged to have committed the offence at Lot 7127, Jalan Pasar Sambungan here between March 10 and March 11.

Ibrahim is also charged with cheating both women into paying RM150,000 towards the palace fund, with the help of Raja Izzuddin to get Nyok Lan the DPMP title between March 11 and April 2 at the same place.

In an alternative charge, he is alleged to have cheated the women of RM70,000 at the same place between March 11 and March 29.

Judge Allaudeen fixed bail at RM50,000 with two sureties after DPP Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim said that Ibrahim was already on bail for an earlier cheating charge when he allegedly committed these two offences.

In mitigating for a lower bail, Ibrahim said that he was only a secretary who had lost his job due to the alleged crimes, adding that he was a widower with four children.

“I am only a personal secretary and was only taking orders. Now, I also have no salary since leaving the Raja Kecil Besar’s office,” he said.

Raja Izzuddin posted bail but Ibrahim could not do so yesterday.

Later, DPP Dzulkifli Ahmad told the court that they would ask for a joint trial for both men when the case comes up for mention.

Judge Allaudeen then set Dec 10 for mention of the cases.
