Psychiatrist: Student fit to enter plea

KUCHING: A magistrate’s court here was yesterday told that a college student, who is tentatively charged with murdering his college mate two months ago, is fit to enter a plea. 

Sentosa Mental Hospital psychiatrist Dr Fairza Yahya tendered a report before magistrate Dayang Ellyn Abang Ahmad that he was mentally sound at the time of the incident. 

Sia Hung, 24, of Pujut in Miri, who was studying at the Inti College, Sarawak campus here is alleged to have caused the death of Lee Chin Fong, 20, at an apartment in Batu Kawa here at 8.15pm on Aug 16, this year. 

On Sept 27, Sia was tentatively charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction. 

Dayang Ellyn fixed Nov 21 for further mention of the case to enable the Deputy Public Prosecutor to review the murder charge. – Bernama
