THE election of prominent entrepreneur Tan Sri William Cheng Heng Jem as president of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACCCIM) came as no surprise, the Chinese press reported.
In a three-way fight for the presidency on Tuesday, Cheng who is Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman received 12 votes while Datuk Tan Kim Chong of Negri Sembilan secured five and Senator Wee Kok Tiong of Sarawak had none.
