IPOH: A father hung himself after setting fire to his 19-year-old daughter at their home in Persiaran Bekor 33, Taman Pertama, here.
Ipoh CID chief Deputy Supt Mazlan Mansor said police went to the scene after receiving a call from the neighbour that the house had been set on fire at about 12.30pm yesterday.
Policemen found S. Kalaivani suffering from burns after forcing their way into the house.
“Kalaivani was still conscious and she managed to tell the police that her father had set her ablaze in the bathroom after pouring kerosene on her.
“She had crawled out of the bathroom to the front door to call for help,” he said.
DSP Mazlan said her father, Sadainid Nadsin, 52, was found hanged from a beam in the dining room.
He said Kalaivani had been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Ipoh Hospital here.
Sadainid was staying with two of his four sons who were away at work during the incident.
DSP Mazlan said the case was being investigated as a sudden death report.
A neighbour, who declined to be named, said she heard someone quarrelling in Sadainid’s house at about 11am but could not see anything as the door and windows were closed.
She said she also heard cries for help but did not do anything as there had been another quarrel in the house the night before.
