MIRI: Longhouse folks living downstream of the Bakun hydro-electric dam project site in Belaga district, central Sarawak, have appealed to the state and federal authorities for help as they are suffering from water and food shortage and flood and transportation woes.
The more than 10,000 people living in 24 longhouses about 37km downstream from the project site have sent a memorandum of appeal to the Sarawak government, the Prime Minister’s Department, the state and federal environmental authorities and the project developer on the matter.
