IPOH: The Youth and Sports Ministry wants to get proposals and views from youth non-governmental organisations (NGOs) regarding the Youth Movement Association Act before it is tabled in Parliament.
Deputy Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat said the Act would affect youth NGOs registered with the Registrar of Societies.
He said the youth wings of NGOs were not included in the proposed Act and they had voiced their concern over this.
“They don't want to be left out of the mainstream. I will meet them and am waiting for some initiative from these youth wings,” he said.
The Act would not include youth wings under political parties, Ong said after attending the Perak Xiang Liang Youth Association fund-raising and installation dinner here on Sunday night.
On another issue, Ong, who is also MCA Youth chairman, said it would initiate the “Free Palestine” and anti-war roadshow in schools.
He said the MCA Youth wing would deliver the anti-war message in Chinese.
“We believe such a message is crucial. The Palestinians are facing a humanitarian problem and not a conflict between Muslims and Jews,” he said.
