KUALA LUMPUR: The police sergeant, who was alleged to have asked for RM500 as an inducement not to book Parti Keadilan supreme council member N. Gobalakrishnan, has lodged a police report over the allegation.

Sjn Abd Hamid Salleh lodged the report in Ipoh on Sunday.

Perak CID deputy chief Deputy Supt G. Selvakumar confirmed that Sjn Abd Hamid had lodged the report.

“We will commence our investigations under criminal defamation under Section 500 of the Penal Code,” he added.

On Saturday, Gobalakrishnan’s counsel M. Manoharan alleged in a magistrate’s court in Tapah that the charges brought against Gobalakrishnan were made up to cover up the opposition politician's allegation that Sjn Abd Hamid had asked for RM500 as an inducement not to book him.

Gobalakrishnan was alleged to have sped off from a roadblock last Monday night and knocked down Sjn Abd Hamid in the process.
