KUALA LUMPUR: The popular and bustling Petaling Street here will be promoted as an international tourist spot and retain its character even after upgrading work has been carried out, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Petaling Street is a road which will be known by the whole world and even now many are saying that Petaling Street is a unique road. There is no such other road in Kuala Lumpur, which is so attractive, and has many tourists visiting and shopping,” he said yesterday in his speech during the “Patrotic Malaysians Mammoth Gathering” at the street.
