Health advocates welcomed treaty on tobacco control

PETALING JAYA: Public health advocates have welcomed the government’s decision to sign and ratify the first international treaty on tobacco control, saying that it would empower the Government to move forward in its anti-tobacco efforts. 

Malaysian Health Promotion Foundation co-ordinator Susan Loo said the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) would empower the Government to deal with the tobacco companies’ sophisticated marketing strategies to promote cigarette smoking.
