SEVERAL Chinese associations in Perak, concerned over the incident where 10 mahjong players and three of their friends were charged in the Kajang magistrate court for gambling in a coffee shop, have urged the police to clarify whether mahjong games are allowed within association premises.

Nanyang Siang Pau quoted Lee Hon Kee, secretary of the Perak Han Jiang Association as saying that mahjong games, a popular past time among the Chinese and commonly played in Chinese associations, had come to a halt in most associations after the case was reported by the Chinese newspapers on Wednesday.
