SEPANG: Two leading South Indian film stars – Simran and “Five Star” Kaniha – arrived here yesterday to take part in two musical shows in Shah Alam tomorrow and Pasir Gudang on Sunday.
There was not much of a crowd as not many were aware of the presence of the film stars at the KL International Airport yesterday morning.
The organiser, M. Narayanan, the managing director of Seventh Channel of South India, greeted both stars.
Sultry dancer Mumtaz, together with playback singers Srinivas, Chithra, Sardahana Sangam and S.P.B. Charan and mimic expert Senthil, are expected to touch down today.
Narayanan said the proceeds from the Shah Alam show at Melawati Indoor Stadium scheduled at 8pm tomorrow would go towards the Dr Rama Subbiah Educational Scholarship Fund.
He said that a local dance troupe, Maras 4U2, and local singer V. Jothy, would also be performing in the two shows.
In a radio interview recently, Simran said that she had always received good response from the local crowd during her trips to Malaysia.
“The Malaysians here give so much importance to entertainment. They are a very appreciative lot,” she said.
She said that she was currently involved in an unnamed Hindi film opposite Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi and Abishek Bachan, which was directed by Manirathnam.
Simran and Kaniha, who got her name after being cast as a heroine in the movie Five Star, would be performing several dances in the two shows.
Narayanan, who had organised a successful show at the same place two years ago, expressed confidence of good support as there had been no entertainment shows since the Tamil Film Mega Star Concert in July last year.
Tickets for the Shah Alam show are priced at RM35, RM50 and RM80. Contact Narayanan at 012-395-5143 or 012-626-3639, or visit www.maras.biz
