PENANG: A poultry farm owner, whose family did not allow him to take a second wife, has been found dead with his Sabahan girlfriend in a car.
The decomposing bodies of Lim Mang Lee, 38, and Eveyrinney Morodok, 28, were found in a Perodua Kancil at an oil palm plantation in Jawi by a plantation worker on Sunday. A hose was found connected from the exhaust pipe into the car.
The couple, who were in the front seats, had been dead for at least three days, according to Nibong Tebal OCPD Deputy Supt Hashim Ali.
Their bodies were claimed by family members from the district hospital mortuary yesterday.
Lim had apparently met Eveyrinney, a hair salon worker, at a karaoke lounge in 2001.
Our investigations showed that the man, married with three children, aged five, seven and nine, was very upset over his family's refusal to allow him to take another wife, said Hashim. Foul play has been ruled out. The deaths are classified as sudden deaths.
In an unrelated case, a 50-year-old fisherman in Bayan Baru collapsed in a police station here and later died at a district hospital. He had earlier attacked a pub owner, whom he suspected of having an affair with his wife.
State CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Abdul Rahim Jani said the fisherman, in a fit of jealousy, used a cleaver to hack the pub owner on the limbs as he was walking to his pub at about 10.30pm.
The pub owner managed to run into the premises and was rescued by his staff while the attacker fled. He was then taken to a nearby hospital where his condition is said to be serious, SAC Abdul Rahim said.
He said the fisherman drank three bottles of paraquat, which were found in his trousers pocket, before he came to the police station. While there, he fainted and was sent to the hospital, but he died shortly after.
