KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department will allow 111 laid off foreign workers in Malacca to work in other factories on humanitarian grounds following reports that they had resorted to eating cats and dogs due to their impoverished state.
Director-general Datuk Mohd Jamal Kamdi said SSN Gloves (M) Sdn Bhd in Petaling Jaya, Seal Polymer Industries Sdn Bhd in Perak and Syarikat Useful Snack & Confectionery Sdn Bhd in Malacca had agreed to take in the five Vietnamese, 60 Indonesians and 46 Nepalese workers who were laid off following the closure of Super Latex Sdn Bhd in Alor Gajah.
