Teams from four schools make it to finals

GOODIES FOR WINNERS: Star Publications staff packing up the prizes to be given out at the Comquiz 2003 finals in Petaling Jaya on Friday.

PETALING JAYA: Teams from four schools in Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur have made it to the Comquiz 2003 finals to be held in Kuching next month. 

The teams from SM Ibrahim in Alor Star, SM St Michael in Ipoh, SM Damansara Jaya in Petaling Jaya, and Chung Hwa Independent High School in Kuala Lumpur, beat 453 other teams from 164 schools in the preliminary rounds held nationwide on June 28. 

Chung Hwa’s team comprising Goh Say Tar, Chun Ee Wen and Christopher Khaw came out tops after recording the highest combined score in the preliminaries. 

The four teams will compete in the finals to be held at Inti College Sarawak in Kuching on Aug 16.  

The winning team would receive a personal computer sponsored by Acer Sales and Services, a printer and scanner sponsored by The Star, a plaque and three Inti College merit scholarships worth RM5,000 each. 

The main sponsors for Comquiz 2003 are Inti College, Brunsfield (Information & Communication Technology), Microsoft, Acer and Eastpak. 

Contributors for door gifts are Nestle, Staedtler Marketing, Inti College, Inti Foundation and Star Publications (M) Bhd. 

Themed “Today’s e-Winners, Tomorrow’s e-Leaders,” the competition is open to students in Form Three to Form Five.
