KUCHING: Sarawak marked its 40th anniversary of self-rule with a special state assembly session and the foundation-stone laying ceremony for a new RM150mil state legislature complex.
The state gained her self-rule from the colonial government on July 22, 1963, and on that day, Sarawak Alliance Party's president Stephen Kalong Ningkan was appointed as the first Chief Minister.
