Man slashed to death in attack

JOHOR BARU: An unemployed man was slashed to death while his friend was seriously injured when a group attacked them in Jalan Lading, Taman Puteri Wangsa, on Saturday night. 

R. Muthuraman, 35, who was slashed on the hand, feet and head, died on the way to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital. His friend R. Ravindran, 37, had slash wounds on his right hand. 

Deputy OCPD (South) Supt Idris Ismail said the assailants were on motorcycles. The victims were walking when the group approached them about 8.15pm. They had parangs and knives, and fled after the attack. 

Police arrested a man in his 20s in Ulu Tiram shortly after.
