PUTRAJAYA: Reciting the doa selamat (prayer) during daily morning assembly in schools is not necessary if it creates dissatisfaction among the other communities, said Religious Adviser to the Prime Minister Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Othman.

He said the idea to have a uniform doa recited in schools was mooted in the early 1980s but shelved because of the difficulty in coming out with wordings acceptable to people of other faiths.
