KLANG: MCA Youth chief Datuk Ong Tee Keat has formed a special committee comprising former adversaries in an effort to resolve problems affecting the movement.

The committee will comprise Ong, deputy youth head Hoo Seong Chang, secretaries-general Liow Tiong Lai and Loh Seng Kok and national organising secretary Tan Yoke Ching.

Several state seats including the top posts in Penang, Negri Sembilan and the Federal Territory are still vacant following disagreements over the choice of candidates.

“To mend the rift requires sincerity and positive engagement. Our main function is to resolve the problems concerning those vacant seats,” he said.

He earlier witnessed the handing over of 5,706 bottles of Brand’s Essence of Chicken to hospital staff for their efforts in combating the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital here yesterday.

Ong said he had already discussed the matter with the party’s newly elected president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and his deputy Datuk Chan Kong Choy.

He said the committee would be officially announced to members tomorrow after the movement’s exco meeting.
