PETALING JAYA: Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye does not fully agree with the methods utilised by social psychologist Professor Dr Robert Levine in his six-year study to determine the level of friendliness and altruism in 23 cities throughout the world.

The study, carried out by Dr Levine, who’s from California State University in Fresno, and 21 psychology students, involved experiments such as pretending to be blind, having an injured leg, dropping a pen to see if anyone will pick it up, asking for loose change and leaving behind stamped self-addressed envelopes to determine which cities had people who willingly assisted strangers.
