KUALA LUMPUR: The Court of Appeal overturned a High Court’s decision to acquit Gemencheh assemblyman Datuk Waad Mansor and convicted him of three counts of corrupt practices, but instead of imposing a custodial sentence, it fined him RM45,000.
Justices Abdul Hamid Mohamad, Mohd Ghazali Mohd Yusoff and Hashim Yusoff, sitting in the three-man bench, passed the ruling yesterday after having reserved their judgment since Jan 8 after an appeal by the prosecution.
