KANGAR: The Thai authorities have deployed an extra 500 policemen to Chana, southern Thailand, to quell a protest involving some 200 villagers who are against the ongoing Thai-Malaysian gas pipeline project there.
A Thai police spokesman in Songkhla said the deployment was to ensure any protest against the project did not turn violent.
