KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor DAP has submitted a memorandum to the Housing and Local Government Ministry explaining why the proposed incinerator in Broga should not be built.

A group of party members led by national publicity secretary Ronnie Liu handed the two-page memorandum to Local Government Director-General Datuk Mohamad Saib, who accepted it on behalf of minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting, at the ministry here yesterday.

Liu said there was no documentary proof that the proposed incinerator, which was based on a pilot incinerator in Japan, was safe.

He urged the ministry to adopt a zero-waste management method, which focused on reducing the amount of waste created through measures such as recycling.
