Dr Mahathir's daughter, Datin Paduka Marina:

“I feel sad and a little moved but I appreciate the fact that he is always a master of the situation and that he did it the way he wanted to do it.

“His closing remarks were very good. I think he really wanted to go out on a high note, not like the last time.

“I'm ecstatic that he mentioned women and about justice in the law, particularly about violence against women.”

Youth chief Datuk Hishammuddin Hussein:

“I will work hard to encourage the younger generation to continue the Malay struggle.

“All of us have to carry on what our past leaders and Dr Mahathir had built.”

Supreme council member Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah:

“I think his proposals should be adhered by all party members to protect the unity of Umno. What he has emphasised is important to keep the party strong to face the election and challenges ahead for the Malays and the country.”
