KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bernama chairman and past president of the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) Datuk Dr Mokhzani Abdul Rahim died of cancer at the Pantai Medical Centre here at 11am yesterday. He was 65.
Mokhzani's eldest son, Charon Wardini, said his father had been suffering from cancer for more than a year.
He served as Bernama chairman from 1983 to 1987 and was the president of MEF from 1982 to 2000. He was also chairman of the Human Resources Development Council.
Mokhzani was former chairman of KFC Holdings (M) Bhd and had sat on the board of directors of Gadek (M) Bhd, Arab-Malaysian Development Bhd and UMW Corporation Bhd.
An honourary fellow of the London School of Economics and Political Science, Mokhzani obtained his doctorate in Economics from the London School of Economics in 1967. He was also Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Universiti Malaya.
He is survived by his wife Datin Azizah Abdul Ghani; two sons – Charon Wardini and Firhat Yuri – and daughter Charmian Azura. – Bernama
