KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno will debate resolutions on the economy, education and religion at its annual general assembly on June 18.
Wanita head Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said executive council member Datuk Norazah Awin would table the resolution on economy and Perak deputy head Faezah Abu Kassim the resolutions on education and religion.
Pokok Sena head Datin Salmah Mat Isa would table the motion to debate the Wanita Umno chief’s address.
Rafidah said at the assembly, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was expected to launch an exhibition themed Jati Wanita (Resilience of Women).
She said the exhibition would showcase the status of today’s women in the economic sector and how they had moved away from traditional areas to new ones.
“This will exhibit women’s success in specific areas and will serve as a reminder that women have moved forward and their status has been elevated,” she told reporters after chairing a Wanita Umno meeting on the resolutions yesterday.
She said Wanita Umno would also celebrate Merdeka month at all levels with various activities and functions.
“This is held to remind everyone of our struggle for independence and that we should continue efforts to preserve it at all times.”
