Siti Nurhaliza to spice up carnival

IPOH: Pop queen Siti Nurhaliza will spice up the closing ceremony of Karnival TV3 Sure Heboh in Dataran Ipoh at 8pm today. 

The Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah is also expected to grace the event, which is expected to attract some 500,000 people from all over the country. 

“With so many people coming, we can safely say Ipoh is no longer a sleepy town,” said Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Tajol Rosli Ghazali who launched the carnival at Dataran Ipoh yesterday. 

Also present were Datuk Bandar Datuk Sirajuddin Salleh, TV3 executive director Abdul Rahman Ahmad, Perak Culture, Tourism and Women’s Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Mazidah Zakaria and other officials. 

Perak is the fifth state after Johor, Malacca, Pahang and Penang to host the carnival commemorating TV3’s 19th anniversary. 

The celebrations continue at Dataran Ipoh from 9am today with activities like paragliding demonstrations, street soccer, rabbit-petting, food and fruit festivals, remote-controlled car competitions and other activities at about 400 booths and stalls. 

TV3 is also collecting contributions for its “RM1 for one life” fund for war victims in Iraq during the celebration.

Donations are also being collected for Jaya Jusco’s “With All Our Hearts” fund for the less fortunate in Malaysia.
