PEKAN: There will be no special treatment accorded to PAS members who join Umno, said party vice-president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He said they would be treated just like any other member.

However, he said, the former opposition members would be encouraged to give talks on the right picture of the political situation in the country.

“They should also tell people why PAS was the wrong party for them.

“Many who joined Umno were PAS members for more than 15 years and strong supporters of the opposition.

“So they have a lot of political experience which they can impart to Umno members,” Najib said after receiving 525 application forms from former Pekan PAS members at a ceremony at the Pekan district council hall yesterday.

He said they also pledged to do their best to help Umno and Barisan Nasional in the coming general election.
