KUCHING: Internationally recognised martial arts courses leading to degree programmes offered by Ansted University BVI of UK are now available in Malaysia.
This was made possible through a joint collaboration between International Martial Arts Research Institute, Martial Arts Federation of Malaysia and Nanyang Wushu Federation of Sarawak with Ansted University.
This made Ansted the first affiliated external training and learning provider in Sabah and Sarawak.
A memorandum of understanding for the joint award programme was signed here on Friday.
The signatories were Ansted University founding member Prof Dr Roger Haw, International Martial Arts Research Institute vice president Irene Yong, Martial Arts Federation of Malaysia president Chan Seng Khai and Nanyang Wushu chairman and instructor-in-chief Prof Dr Song Swee Hee.
The three martial arts bodies offered wushu training, which included chingay, lion dance and unicorn dances, their joint press statement said.
It said Ansted University would help to raise the educational level of martial art students.
