KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man pleaded not guilty in a Sessions Court yesterday to eight counts of detaining illegal immigrants with the intention of using them for prostitution.
Ho See Heong, 48, was charged with detaining eight Indonesians, aged between 15 and 23, for the purpose at Sri Lata Condo in Desa Petaling, Cheras, at about 12.50pm on May 31.
Ho, of Jalan Loke Yew, was charged under Section 372(1) (d) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 15 years if found guilty.
Judge Akhtar Tahir fixed June 20 for mention of the case while Ho engaged counsel.
In the same court, a jobless man pleaded not guilty to a charge of raping a 20-year-old woman at a house in Taman Cheras Utama, Cheras, in 2001.
Abdul Muiz Abdul Alim, 24, was accused of raping the woman between 11pm and 12pm on Oct 17, 2001.
He was charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum term of 20 years jail and whipping upon conviction.
Akhtar set a RM20,000 bail with one surety on Abdul Muiz and fixed trial for four days beginning Oct 20. Abdul Muiz could not post bail.
