Aliran: Probe errant factory

PENANG: Aliran has called on the Government to investigate how a Butterworth-based garment factory deported seven Myanmar migrant workers while the Labour Department was in the midst of its investigations. 

“To deport them while the department was investigating the firm’s treatment of its migrant workers shows that the employers have too much power to do what they like with migrant workers without having to account for their actions,” Aliran said in a statement here yesterday.
