KUANTAN: The state government is willing to channel its water resources to other states but wants to protect its interests in the process.
Commenting on a statement by Malaysian Water Association deputy president Tan Sri Rozali Ismail on Thursday that only some state governments were co-operating with the National Water Resources Council on water matters, Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said:
We need to protect our interests as well and we are not happy with selling raw water only.
The state, he said, was prepared to upgrade its supply system to channel water but it should be given shares in the water treatment company.
The water treatment plant can be set up anywhere but if the water is from this state, we need to be given some equity, he said here yesterday.
