PETALING JAYA: The existence of the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) has played an important role in the release of Internal Security Act (ISA) detainees and in contributing towards the struggle to abolish the Act, a human rights group said.
Zaid Kamaruddin, who is the Abolish ISA Movement working committee chairman representing 83 organisations, said it helped to have a national institution that fought for human rights.
