PETALING JAYA: Passengers boarding Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flights have been given an insight into Sabah’s Harvest and Sarawak’s Gawai festivals at the KL International Airport.
The two-day event, which started yesterday, was organised as part of the company’s creative campaign, ShowTime, to show that flying was a safe and enjoyable experience at a time when the aviation industry was reeling from a drop in domestic and international passengers.
The airline's corporate communications department said this was the first segment of the campaign, which focussed on celebrations in the two states.
“It complements the Government’s initiatives in promoting and stimulating the tourism and hospitality industry in the country,” the airline said in a statement.
Upon arrival and before departure, passengers were entertained with the traditional Sumazau and Ngajat dance performances, sponsored by the Sabah and Sarawak Tourism Promotion Corporation.
The event was held twice, in the morning and evening and was jointly organised by the two states’ tourism corporation and Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd.
The on-going ShowTime initiatives are activities for special occasions and celebrations such as anniversaries and birthdays, Christmas, Hari Raya, Deepavali, Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day and Children’s Day.
