KOTA KINABALU: All is set for the Pesta Kaamatan (Harvest Festival) open house to be held at Padang Merdeka here today.

Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail would join some 100,000 people in the celebration.

“I am sure this year's event will be better than the one last year. We are always striving to improve,'' he said yesterday.

The festivities will start from 5.30pm.

Kadir said various cultural performances such as traditional dances from the Kadazandusun community, the Rungus and Muruts would be staged during the event.

Among the highlights of the evening is the catwalk appearance of the Unduk Ngadau or Harvest Queen contestants.
