KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad arrived here yesterday evening for a two-day working visit to Sabah.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force executive jet carrying the Prime Minister touched down at 7.45pm at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport where he was greeted on arrival by Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman and senior state officials.

Dr Mahathir then chaired a meeting with Sabah Umno leaders.

Today, he will fly by helicopter to the interior Keningau district where he will open the Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah delegates' conference.

He would then return to Kota Kinabalu and perform the Friday prayers at the City Mosque in Likas and join the Sabah Cabinet and state Barisan Nasional leaders for lunch.

He will attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the RM35mil Sabah Umno building at Karamunsing, near here, before returning to Kuala Lumpur.

In Seremban earlier, Dr Mahathir and his wife Datin Seri Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali attended the wedding of Syazrena Abdul Rafei, 25, and Azli Azmin Abdullah, 26, at Taman Bukit Chedang.

Bank Negara officer Syazrena is the daughter of one of the Prime Minister’s staff, Maznah Bahari, and Lt Kol (Rtd) Abdul Rafei Khatab.
