PETALING JAYA: The National Film Development Corporation (Finas) will once again be selecting winners of its Samad Idris Trophy for writings on the Malaysian film industry in the print media in conjunction with the 22nd Finas Day on June 24.

Judged separately for articles in the Malay and English media, the award is given in recognition of the contribution made by journalists in fostering and developing the industry.

The top prize in each category comes with a replica trophy and RM3,000 while the second and third prize winners will receive RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.

Introduced 10 years ago, starting with the Malay category, the competition was open to the English media in 2000.
