KLANG: Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu will leave for India on Sunday to have discussions with External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha to further improve ties.

He said that ties had been strained in the wake of the police detention of 165 Indian IT professionals during a raid against illegal immigrants at a condominium in Brickfields.

Samy Vellu said the matter should be considered closed as the Malaysian Government had apologised.

“My trip is to ensure that India does not take retaliatory action against Malaysia for that regretful incident,” he said after attending a fund-raising dinner for the Malaysia Hindu Sangam, Selangor branch in Pandamaran on Wednesday.
