Two old people die in separate fires

IPOH: Two elderly people were burnt to death in two separate fires in Bidor and Ipoh yesterday. 

In the first incident, a man identified as Loke Weng Choo, 78, died when fire gutted his house in Jalan Tokong, Bidor, at noon. 

Firemen found Loke’s body in one of the rooms after bringing the fire under control within 15 minutes. The body was later taken to Tapah Hospital mortuary. 

In the second fire, the charred remains of a woman identified as Lee Yeot 68, was found in one of the rooms after fire gutted her squatter house in Jalan Leo, Taman Star, at 2.40pm. 

State fire and rescue department operations officer P. Samasivam said they brought the fire under control within 10 minutes. 

He said the fire was believed to have started from the back of the house.
