SPOILT FOR CHOICE: Richard Kang, owner of two Silky Terriers, letting his pets choose the dishes from the buffet spread in Penang Sunday.

PENANG: It was certainly a gathering to remember when some 50 canines attended a party yesterday.

Believed to be the first of its kind in the state, the “guests” comprised dogs of various breeds, including Shih Tzu, Maltese, Silky Terrier, Pomeranian and Cocker Spaniel.

They were treated to a buffet spread which included cheese muffins, vegetarian lasagna, chicken pasta, chicken with brown rice, ice cream and yoghurt.

Jane Khoo, owner of November Dog World pet shop in Tanjung Bungah here, which organised the party, said it was aimed at gathering dog lovers to share tips on pet care.

The party was also a good chance for the dogs to “socialise”, she said.

A lucky draw was held for dog owners and the prizes ranged from dog food and accessories to free and discounted grooming services at the pet shop.
