KUANTAN: Residents of Sungai Lembing, affected by floods every monsoon season, were thankful when Resorts World Bhd donated three boats to them.

Each of the fibreglass boats was fitted with 20hp outboard engines and can carry 10 adults. They cost RM24,000.

Resorts World senior vice-president (public relations and media), Datuk Anthony Yeo said the company decided to donate the boats when it received a request by Deputy Finance Minister and Pahang MCA chief Datuk Chan Kong Choy and several other MCA leaders some time ago.

“The boats will be used to transport residents from flood-prone areas, especially in Sungai Lembing,” Yeo said after the handing over of the boats to community leaders here on Friday.

Yeo said Resorts World had also donated RM100,000 to 532 families affected by floods in Mentakab, Pekan and Kuantan in 2001.
